I manage the Department of R&D in Biomedical Engineering at the University Hospital of Northern Sweden with a staff of 22 senior scientists, engineers and PhD-students.
My PhD exam is in Biomedical Engineering from Linköping University 1993 and I was appointed associate professor 1996 at Umeå University. Since 1999 I am professor in Biomedical Engineering and I was a chaired professor in the subject at Luleå University of Technology between 2005 - 2011. From 2011 and still I have a visiting professorship in Biomedical Engineering at the department of radiation sciences, Umeå University. Furthermore, since the year 2000 and still, I am the director of the Centre for Biomedical Engineering and Physics at Umeå University.
My research focus is biomedical sensors and specially resonance sensors for detection of eye pressure and prostate cancer. One other research focus is within the area of tactile video and optical spectroscopy. I have published more than hundred scientific publications and patents during the years. Furthermore I have founded several companies in the biomedical engineering area and since many years I am engaged in both national and international societies in biomedical engineering as well as several scientific advisory boards for companies and organisations.
