In 1993 Anders Eklund graduated as an MSc in Engineering Physics from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. He currently has a joint position as Professor in Biomedical Engineering at Umeå University and at the R&D-department of Biomedical Engineering at Umeå University Hospital. Anders obtained a PhD-degree in Biomedical engineering from Umeå University in 2002, and was appointed Associate Professorship in Biomedical Engineering at the Department of Radiation Sciences, Umeå University, in 2005 and adjunct professor in 2012. In 2014 was appointed the Carl Bennet Professorship in Biomedical Engineering at Umeå University.
Main areas of interest are biomedical engineering research with applications in neuroscience and ophthalmology. His research field is models and measurement techniques concerning the physiological fluid dynamics. Especially research related to the cerebral hemodynamics, hydrodynamic characteristics of the cerebrospinal fluid system and the intraocular system. Together with Associate Professor Jan Malm, he leads The Umeå Hydrocephalus Research Group, a multidisciplinary team with more than ten active researchers that has funding from the Swedish Research Council, Swedish National Space Board and The Heart and Lung Foundation. Eklund has published more than seventy-five journal papers and more than hundred conference abstracts.
