The new influenza is most often no more serious than the "regular" annual flu, but because it is a new variant of the flu virus, fewer people have a natural protection. Consequently, more people than usual are expected to fall ill in the upcoming season.
Although for most people, the flu entails a harmless, but occasionally unpleasant illness with symptoms that subside in a few days, some groups may become seriously ill. To protect them and others, it is important to prevent the spread of disease as much as possible. In the autumn, the Västerbotten County Council will offer all of those who live in the county vaccine against the influenza free of charge.
On these web pages, you can find current information from the county council about the new influenza. You can get advice on how to avoid infection, what you can do if you fall ill, how the vaccination will be carried out and where to turn if you have questions.
