I work as a research engineer in the Radiation Physics and Biomedical Engineering group. The main focus of my work is computer simulations of intracranial blood and CSF flows.
I hold a PhD degree in computational mathematics from the University of Oslo, Norway, and a MSc degree in hydrology from Utrecht University, the Netherlands. In my master thesis I studied intracranial fluid flow with application to drug delivery in cancer treatment. During my PhD I continued to study fluid flow in the brain. The topic of my thesis was the relation between the neurogical disorders Chiari I and syringomyelia from a mechanical perspective. I used computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to test hypotheses and get a better understanding of CSF flow and pressure under healthy and pathological conditions.
